breakout after period on birth control

So I went on a new birth control with different ingredients that supposedly help with acne. The first few weeks went well and after a while it started obviously clearing up and getting better until my face looked almost normal after the first 21 days. Then I did the period break as recommended and toward the end of that is where all hell broke loose. I started taking it again as supposed to after the 7 days break but it just doesn't want to stop. I haven't had a sudden breakout this bad ever and it's really ruining everything for me. Does anyone know if this normal and should go down again? I'm kinda feeling terrible after getting my hopes killed again.
