Hello, I am a 22 year old female who still experiences the occasional breakout, especially hormonal ones. My teenage years were surprisingly clear and I was able to get away with clear skin using nothing but a basic Neutrogena face wash (me and my Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Cleanser against the world) and I naively believed that I would magically no longer have acne once I turned 18 because I would be an adult and adults don't get acne, only teenagers do!
Unfortunately halfway through my sophomore year of college I began to experience breakouts so bad that I could not fight them with just drugstore skincare (or even Korean skincare with oil cleansing), and to make matters worse since I had good enough skin in high school I never actually learned how to deal with acne that didn't just go away after a day or two (and I lowkey still don't) so the breakouts left me with acne scars. I went to a dermatologist which helped and I still use topicals to this day, but like I mentioned still am a victim of random hormonal breakouts.
Which leaves me wondering: when will it end? When will my body stop giving me acne as a side effect? How long will I have to pay special attention to skincare? I know I am very young and that there are 30 year olds and 40 year olds who still experience breakouts so I guess TLDR: if you guys get acne can you put how old you are in the comments lol so I can assume that I will not be able to catch a break until I become older than the oldest person in the comments. Thanks!
