Acne caused by retinol

I used luxe organix retinol bakuchil for 2months and stopped about 2days ago because I couldn't take it aymore and people said it was damaging my skin barrier. Now I'm stuck with all the uglies caused by purging. I used the sandwhich method but I did use it too frequently than my skin could handle (knew afterwards). I don't normally get acne unless its hormonal and I just used retinol because they said it would get rid of the bumps on my forehead and give me clear skin.
