Hi all. I just wanted to post this in case it may show up if people search for it like I did. I exclusively breastfed my baby, and continued to do so after she started solids, until she was about 19 months old.
I developed pretty bad back acne (down my arms and on my chest as well) around 4 months pp. I tried EVERYTHING that was safe while breastfeeding. My diet was already healthy, and I had never had back acne before having a baby. But I even tried cutting things from my diet. Nothing worked, and my back acne just seemed to get worse. I seriously tried everything.
Whenever I would google and search the forums, I didn't come across women still experiencing this so long term through breastfeeding. So that's why I'm sharing.
I literally stopped breastfeeding before I wanted to, because it was so bad, and it was crushing my self confidence. I couldn't even go out in a tank top on a hot summer day.
Just wanted to share, that my back acne is almost entirely cleared up after two months of weaning. It was extremely difficult at first, as I stopped for what I felt like were selfish reasons. And after my acne didn't clear up the first month, I was having major regrets that breastfeeding wasn't the cause. But it in deed was.
Solidarity to all the breastfeeding moms who have acne from it. It's brutal!
